History of the American Musical

History of the American Musical

Presented by Town Hall Theater at Town Hall Theater

Join Artistic Director Doug Anderson on his four-part series, “History of the American Musical.” The course runs on four consecutive Mondays, from April 15 to May 6, at 7:00 pm and will last for roughly 90 minutes.

In each session, Doug will share rare footage of iconic performers, live performances by local artists, and insightful commentary that brings the evolution of the American musical to life. From vaudeville in the 1920s to contemporary works by Stephen Sondheim, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for one of America’s greatest cultural treasures.

But the “History of the American Musical” is more than just a celebration of great music. It’s an exploration of American cultural history, reflecting our nation’s values, struggles, and triumphs over the past 175 years.

Whether you’re a musical theater enthusiast or simply curious about its cultural significance, this course offers something for everyone. This link is to attend in person at Town Hall Theater.
