Middlebury Festival on the Green has been acclaimed by Vermont Life as “the best series of free performances in Vermont” and as Vermont’s “Favorite Festival.”  We have also been distinguished this year and ten past times with selection as a Vermont Chamber of Commerce “Top Ten Summer Event.”

The festival is held every year the weekend after July 4th on the Middlebury green in the center of town. The 40 by 80′ big tent holds 200 wooden chairs facing a 16 by 24′ stage.  The tent is surrounded by a sloping lawn with unlimited seating. There are many genres of music included in the week as we try and present something for everyone. Everything is free, but we do “pass the hat” during intermission to help support the festival.

Members of the media and of our Festival audience have graciously complimented the event with these words: “Small town, big fun!” “One of the best community-oriented music festivals imaginable.” “A gift to the entire community.” “Middlebury at its finest.” “Excellent quality and variety of performers.” “Love it all — what a treat!” “The Festival on-the-Green is the very essence of New England in summer. A blanket tossed on the grass, free music, good ice cream, friendly neighbors’ faces and children dancing in the shadows of the gazebo. This is the America we have mostly left behind, and to which we keep trying to return.”
