A community tradition since 1984, the annual Middlebury Messiah Sing each year brings together more than 200 people who join together singing and playing many of the favorite choruses from Handel’s Messiah. Simply come to sing, to play (string players, flutes, oboe, bassoon), or to listen and watch at Middlebury’s Congregational Church on the Sunday afternoon during the week prior to Christmas Eve. Music scores are provided. Donations at the door help provide honoraria to our vocal and instrumental soloists who come from our community and nearby parts of Vermont.

Jeff Rehbach conducts the sing-along. Jeff led the Middlebury College Community Chorus from 2000 to 2020. As of Fall 2023, he enjoys singing with the chorus, now under the direction of Ronnie Romano, and for the previous two years with Jeff Buettner conducting. Jeff R also plays viola with the Champlain Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Matt LaRocca, and plays organ to accompany hymns at Memorial Baptist Church in Middlebury.
